Italian review of ACL's Holy Ghost on Rockerilla April 2016 edition
by Aldo Chimenti.

The acronym, ACL, stands for ANTIchildLEAGUE, which is not ' NGO (non
governamental organization) for child rights, but an art project headed
by Gaya Donadio (6Comm) which makes anti-music a compelling ethical
instrument of dissent, including great actual themes 'such as social
disintegration and in vitro created family'.
So ACL sound creations have the determination of the assault hit and
run that rides a powerful power noise artillery and vocal assaults to
the pagan armed paroxysm. The last album, Holy Ghost is a war machine
that prefers chaos to constitutional (dis)order, which uses electronic
generators as high precision noise spears, unleashing proclamations of
syllabus madness and brute savagery.
Our compatriot Gaya Donadio, based in London for years now and
companion of Patrick Leagas, resumed hostilities with her own personal
project power-electronics ACL, operating since 2001 with a cassette and
two compact discs in assets, in addition to some illustrious
collaborations on mini-cD and 7 "(Con-Dom, Silent Abuse and Schrage
Musik, the latter project of same Patrick).
Recently engaged in
the activity live alongside Leagas in the roaring 6Comm, Gaya gets back
to work in the field that is most congenial, that of heavy-electronics
more violent and irreverent that has been not only the trademark of
previous work (the last was "the Son" in 2014) but also of the live
shows as powerful as that of the Moritzbastei Leipzig I had the
opportunity to follow at the Gotik Treffen a few years ago.
"Holy Ghost" is presented as "extreme action" since the graphic,
unambiguous and uncompromising as ACL tradition, and not least are the
titles of some of the thirteen tracks ( "Dick Funeral", "Penis Dead")
ranging to resume the gruesome cover concept: a suffering male
member attacked by a swarm of insects, an image that draws scenarios of
death and abandonment. The sacred psalms the initial title track are
lost soon in the white weapon assault of "I hate you", a title that
takes no prisoners, just like the razor shoot from analog synths on
which Gaya vomits texts full of anger.
An aggressive mood that
continues in "Ice Heart" and slows slightly in the two different
versions of "Weak Seed", where leaves the field to feel sick, unhealthy
and stifling. Gaya's voice touches on some breakers peak of insanity
respectable ( "Penis Dead"), and the electronic layers are not far from
those of the old school of Con-Dom and Whitehouse, that is the best
"British old school".
The attack of "Guilty women" remains my
favorite, followed by the percussive loop of "In the Shadow", and I am
willing to bet that the new drones of "Holy Ghost" will make the best on
stage, where projects like ACL fail to better express their violent and
nihilistic charge. "The Father", 2008, "The Son", 2014, and now eight
years later the circle closes with "Holy Ghost". A triptych with a
decidedly critical attitude toward the moral hypocrisy of the
pre-established religious dogmas and the powerful anticlerical message.
More than ever topical, unfortunately.
ACL wishes to thank everyone who attended the Wave Gotik Treffen event. What a wonderful experience! Live moments that cannot be transferred online because they are unique.. This time ACL on stage was Gaya and Patrick L. I played some of the forthcoming Holy Ghost release material which works very well live! Despite the 37 degree or so [IT WAS HOT!] - stage became double hell! The diverse audience was a bonus. Thanks for the great feedback! An enormous thank you to Sven Affeld, Ragnar for the great job of mixing my sound live, Michael Wolff, Gernot, Patrick Leagas, Stefano,
Biotope-Art Organization-Guglielmo for visuals, the venue crew, Thomas and Michael from WGT, all good friends that kept me hydrated throughout the days with drinks especially Larry, Steven and Sven.
for the amazing night. A Special thanks to Erik and Ina for the great organization and welcoming. I Had really good time enjoying the performances and the company of fellow artists I shared the stage with. Excellent DJs and dance floor companionships. Thanks also to Biotope Art Organization for helping on stage, Vito, Martin, the sound guy and everyone else involved which I forgot the names..
"My blasphemous philosophy is feeling contempt for all kinds of
religious cults enslaving the mind, projecting their guilt on others, abusing power".
"A.C.L. is against genetic and fabricated forms of family and the inherent oppressive environment this brings. Obviously this incubates latent religious slavery as well as the more visible forms of oppression.
The patriarchal expectation to breed for the continuity of this species, to carry secular disgrace in the womb…uh! You are all free to be slaves in whichever way but do not attempt to infect me with your paranoia and bigotry.
Overpopulation is an issue as is vanity and boredom.
The abuse of children by the state as agents to affect my life through censorship and intellectual integrity is also an issue;
your paedophiles and rapists are your own inventions and natural offspring".
"ACL is just a chapter of my little world but no one’s life amusement or condemning thought"
